Mehmet Biber was charged as a ‘Foreign Fighter’ in Syria despite never fighting. He did join an armed group in Syria opposed to President Assad but it was part of the local opposition, not a terrorist group. It was not ISIS or Al Nusra. Facing a penalty of imprisonment for 20 years, Biber was sentenced to 2.5 years non- parole. Mark Davis speaks after sentence.
